Thomas Slack, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – Somerville. Born in Lowville, New York, he was the beloved son of the late Edwin and Ethelda (Howell) Slack.
A lifelong resident of Bound Brook, Tom began his career at PSEG in Bound Brook as a custodian and, through hard work and dedication, rose to the position of supervisor before retiring in 2006. Always devoted to his country, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1968 to 1972. Following his active duty, he continued his service in the National Guard for an additional twenty years.
Tom was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting and camping. He also shared his love of sports with his family, coaching his sons’ Bound Brook recreation baseball team for many years.
He was a proud member of the American Legion Stevenson-D'Alessio Memorial Post 12 in Somerville and the Bound Brook America Hose & Engine Co. #2.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandy; his sons Brian and his wife, Nancy; Brent, and his wife Chrissy; his four grandchildren Ashley, Noah, Hayley and Thomas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gathering with the family will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ 08805. Funeral services will be 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Cremation will be private. The family would like all to attend a light repast at the Stevenson-D’Alessio Memorial Post 12, 232 Union Ave, Somerville, NJ 08876 from 5:00 to 7:00.
