Richard Freligh Sr., 90 of Bound Brook, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Parker Home at Landing Lane, in New Brunswick, NJ.
Richard was born in Brooklyn, New York and was a graduate of the Philadelphia Textile Institute where he majored in Textile Engineering. Richard later moved to Bound Brook, where he built a life centered on family, faith, and community after marrying. He went on to have a successful career as Director of Productions and Operations at United Merchants in New York City. Richard proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962.
Richard was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, watching the NY Yankees, taking road trips, fishing, bowling, golfing, and cherished time spent at family dinners. A devoted communicant of St. Mary’s of Czestochowa Church, he generously volunteered his time supporting parish events, including church picnics and New Year’s Eve celebrations. Above all, Richard’s greatest happiness came from being with his family.
Richard was predeceased by his brother Robert and parents Morris and Josephine (Dazzo) Freligh. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary (DiBiase) Freligh; his son Richard Jr. and his wife, Carolyn; his daughter Theresa Richardson, and her husband Matthew; and his grandchildren Katherine (19), Joseph (18), Jacob (17), and Cristina (17).
Gathering with the family will be 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM, Monday, April 6, 2026, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue in Bound Brook.
