Kenneth Victor Jarus, 86, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025.
Born March 5, 1939 in Bound Brook, NJ to Virginia (Sleph) and Victor Jarus, his younger years would bring trials that would set the tone for a life well lived.
Ken lost his father at two years of age, prompting his grandmother Zofia Sleph to step in and become the most influential person in his life. He was devoted to her until her death in 1983. At age 8, Ken lost 75% of his dominant hand, propelling him to acquire a life of normalcy and to overcome the adversities life had bestowed upon him.
Ken became living proof to never judge a book by its cover. He worked many summers as a lifeguard at the Bound Brook pool. He played football for Bound Brook high school, and went to Trenton State College on a track scholarship. Ken was a member of “ A Team Named Desire” and was inducted into the Bound Brook high school athletic Hall of Fame for basketball.
Ken was a seeker of joy and liked to bring joy to others. He served his community in the Ivy Hook and Ladder Company, former chief; as a member of the Bound Brook chapter of the Jaycees; a Bound Brook/Middlesex Rotarian; served as a Councilman in Bound Brook; and was an active member of St. Joseph’s Parish.
Ken was employed many years by PSE&G before leaving to work for Decco, Inc where he retired as President.
Ken spent 57 years with the love of his life, Sharon (O’Brien). They spent over twenty years of retirement in Cape Cod and Nokomis, Florida while traveling the world. God gave Ken two loving children, Beth Ellen and Kenneth, who will miss his presence every day until they meet again. Truly, the greatest joy of his life was his two granddaughters, Mallory and Meredith of whom he was so proud, and loved infinitely.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon, his devoted daughter Beth Ellen Clark and her husband Brian, his son Kenneth Jarus, his granddaughters Mallory Wilk and Meredith Wilk, and their father, Francis Wilk. He leaves a legacy to live life with purpose and to always show compassion to others.
