John Peter Bukavich

John (Jack) Peter Bukavich, 88 of Bound Brook, New Jersey passed away at his home, on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Jack was born in Ashley, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1937. He was the son of the late Alfred C. and Josephine A. Sidloski Bukavich. He attended St Leo’s High School, in Ashley, PA, Bloomsburg State College, in Bloomsburg, PA, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, and Somerset County Vocational and Technical Schools where he earned certificates in Electrical Trades. Jack was also a Marine Corps veteran. He married Joan (Alper) Bukavich on September 2, 1963; they were married for 62 years.

Jack was a public-school teacher, teaching business subjects first at Bloomfield Board of Education and ending his career in Union County Region District #1 Board of Education, teaching a college level accounting course, keyboarding, and other business subjects until his retirement in 1998.

Jack enjoyed tinkering around the house and yard, where he did many projects, including planting annuals every year, painting the inside and outside of the house, and cementing sidewalks around their house, pool, and garage. Jack enjoyed sharing his knowledge and teaching his grandsons Christopher and Matthew everything he knew.

Jack had many interests. He enjoyed watching sports, particularly football and baseball. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Joan. They enjoyed cruising and touring both abroad and within the United States.

Jack is survived by his wife, Joan Bukavich, his daughters Lisa Bukavich, Beth (Rob) Dorinck, his grandsons Christopher (Stephanie) Dornick, Matthew Dornick, great-grandson Jason, and his sisters Bette DeSantos, and Georgine Bukavich.

Jack is preceded in death by his brothers James and Alfie, his sister Mary Ann, and his parents, Alfred and Josephine.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 9:00am – 9:45am at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Catholic Church, 600 Harris Ave, Middlesex, NJ 08846.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Catholic Church.

Interment with military honors to immediately follow at Resurrection Burial Park, East Lincoln Avenue and Hoes Lane, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
