Joan DeFrancesco

Joan DeFrancesco, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Princeton, New Jersey.

She was born in Jersey City to the late Daniel and Catherine (Wilkinson) Spillane, who raised her in Newark.

Joan was a quiet and compassionate woman who devoted herself to her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, she found her greatest joy in caring for others. She especially cherished time spent with her beloved great-grandchildren.

Joan was a wonderful cook who enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, trying new recipes and sharing meals made with love.

She was predeceased by her husband, Patsy DeFrancesco.

Joan is survived by her children, Karen (Dennis) Nardone, and Michael (Pamela) Mineo; her grandchildren, John R. Villani Jr. and Sara M. Villani (Alex Peredjogin); great-grandchildren, Carson and Jacob Peredjogin; and her sister, Agnes Cartier.

Joan will be remembered for her comforting presence, her generous heart, and her lifelong dedication to family.

A graveside service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.

All arrangements are under the care and supervision of Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home.

Cremation was private.
