George S. Bunca Jr.

George S. Bunca Jr., age 84 of Middlesex, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026. George was born in Bound Brook, NJ on March 5, 1941 to George Sr. and Doris. He attended school at Bound Brook High School where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Ann (née McGrane).

George proudly served in the United States Army as part of the Military Police and was stationed in Korea from 1959-1960.

George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Ann, his two children, Deirdre and her husband Daniel, George and his wife Sheryl, and his five grandchildren, Molly, Annie, Jack, Sera, and Sabrina.

George was an avid fisherman and hunter. His favorite memories were being out on his boat with his family or just making fun of each other around the house. He had a sharp, quick wit and loved to tease his favorite people. George was a Mets fan (because he had no choice) and loved to watch classic movies. There was nothing he looked forward to more than spending vacations with his wife in Aruba, Barbados, or any tropical location.

George was also a great Cat Dad, the most recent being to the beloved Gabbi. Predeceasing her was Chloe, Ernie, Nermal, Sylvester, Piwacket, Schroeder, and Brown Cat. And we can’t forget Yankee, the family Irish Setter.

Visitation is from 2:00 – 5:00 pm, Sunday, February 1, 2026 at the Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave, Bound Brook.

A private military funeral honors and committal service will take place at the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, George and his family would appreciate making memorial contributions to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ and/or Tabby’s Place Cat Sanctuary in Ringoes, NJ.
