Listen to Obituary

Dorothy Liptak Miranda, aged 94, died peacefully on Saturday morning, June 13. She was a lifelong resident of Bound Brook, as well as an alumna of Bound Brook High School.Dorothy Miranda was born on May 15, 1932, to Catherine Savinsky Liptak and George Liptak in Bound Brook, NJ. After graduating from high school, she worked a variety of administrative jobs before becoming a dental assistant and office manager for Dr. Zora Stefanovski, DMD, also in Bound Brook. "Dottie", as she was known, was loved by long time patients of the dental practice as they relied on her for decades to handle all of their dental needs from scheduling appointments to dealing with insurance companies.Dorothy was active in her community. As a devout Roman Catholic, she was a parishioner of St Joseph Roman Catholic Church for over 75 years and she held leadership positions in the Rosary Altar Society as well as membership in the Mary Martha Club and Mount Carmel Society. She also belonged to the Bound Brook Fire Department #4 Ladies Auxiliary in addition to the Bound Brook Seniors Club.As a talented hand-crafter, Dorothy loved belonging to the Bridgewater Senior Knitting Club. She also enjoyed cross stitching, ceramics, sculpture, crewelwork, and painting. She was known to use her knitting skills to help others from creating hats and blankets for NICU babies to sweaters for impoverished children around the world. Dorothy loved to be busy and was always on the go. She liked traveling to visit family and spending time with friends, especially her best friend Faith. Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and William Fritzinger of Bound Brook, as well as her granddaughters, Lauren Cottam (Michael) and Heidi Shallop (Anthony). She is also survived by her pride and joy - eight great grandchildren - Madeline, Jenna, Morgan, William, Liam, Ryan, Claire, and Jacob - in addition to her sisters, Marie Patullo and Theresa Sferra, and a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Joseph Miranda in 2001 as well as her son, Joseph Jr. in 1960. She was also predeceased by her brothers, George Liptak and John Liptak, and her sister Helen Brown.Dorothy's family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers of Parker at River Road, where she resided for the final years of her life. Her last words were "enjoy your day" and we feel that those words were very fitting for her. She had some very hard things to overcome in her life, not the least of which was the accidental death of her infant son, but she always prevailed and had an optimistic outlook. She loved and she lost but she loved again. Her lesson for her family was perseverance in the face of adversity.
