Listen to Obituary

Dorothy Ann Bedner, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — lovingly known to everyone as “Grandma Dottie.” She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Born and raised in Warrior Run, Pennsylvania, Dorothy graduated from Bound Brook High School. She went on to work for RCA in Branchburg until she married Bill, the love of her life, on June 6, 1959. Together they raised their family in Bound Brook, New Jersey, where they made countless memories and lifelong friendships. They sold their cherished family home only a few short years ago.

In her 50s, Dorothy decided to go back to work at Strike ‘N Spare Bowling Alley in Green Brook, where she lovingly cared for children in the nursery as if they were her own. She brought warmth, patience, and laughter to everyone she met there.

Dorothy had a big heart and a special way of making everyone feel loved. She enjoyed long chats on the phone, shopping for the perfect gifts, and spending time surrounded by her family. Nothing made her happier than being with her loved ones — especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill (2016); her son, Billy (2012); and her sister, Carol Baab, who passed just three months ago. She leaves behind her children Michael (Kelli), Lisa, and Joy (Bob), and her daughter-in-law Becky. Dorothy was blessed with many grandchildren — Bill, Brittany, Leslie, Blair, Michael, Ava, Kara, Josh, Charlotte, and Calvin — and great-grandchildren Luca, Wyatt, Landon, Meadow, Colton, Harper, Frankie, Tynslee, Tucker, and Reese.

Dorothy’s family will forever remember her love, laughter, and generous spirit. She made life brighter just by being in it.  The family will celebrate Dorothy’s life privately at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home in Bound Brook, NJ
