David Anthony Fiorentino, 75, of South Bound Brook, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Dave was born on July 18, 1951, in Orange, New Jersey to Benjamin and Genevieve (née Saporito) Fiorentino. He completed his elementary education in Newark, New Jersey. In 1966, his family moved to Bound Brook, New Jersey. Dave graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1969, and while there, began strong friendships that lasted for the rest of his life.
All of Dave’s jobs during high school and throughout his life were centered around the service industry. He retired as the manager of a propane gas company in 2011.
Dave proudly served in the United States Army from October, 1970, to October, 1973, when he was honorably discharged. Over the course of three years, he was stationed primarily in Germany and Vietnam. He was in the 196th Infantry Brigade. While serving he received medals including, but not limited to, Vietnam Service, Sharpshooter, National Defense Service, and Vietnam Campaign. He finished his military years teaching a class at West Point. Dave remained deeply proud of his military service throughout his life.
Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan (née Krehely); his children Michael, Nicholas, and his daughter-in-law Michelle; his grandson Nolan; his brother Benjamin Fiorentino and his wife Maria; his sister-in-law Janet Krehely and her husband John; his sister-in-law Debra Jackle and her husband Richard. Dave is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Genevieve.
Dave treasured all his relationships with family members. From a childhood in Newark, to Sunday coffee, to holiday picnics, to Christmas Eves, Dave was always surrounded by his extended family. Family came first, and this was always emphasized to his sons.
In addition to his familial relationships, he also treasured all his friendships. Through the years he enjoyed coaching Little League, biking, hiking, rock climbing, rappelling off mountains, listening to music, gardening, trying new recipes, driving his ‘74 yellow Beetle convertible to Somerville, making wines and cordials, watching (and winning at) Jeopardy, reading and swapping books, grocery shopping Sunday mornings at ShopRite, and participating in yearly biathlons. He was an avid fan of boxing and the Yankees. He loved sharing stories and was always quick with the quips.
His family and friends knew Dave as a genuine, caring person with a generous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued. His laughter, stories, kindness, and ability to find joy in the simple things made him someone people were grateful to have in their lives. He will be missed.
A memorial service will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook. A prayer service with military honors will begin at 12:15 p.m.
