David DeGhetto, 62, of Bound Brook, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 11, 2025. Born in Somerville, David was the son of Mario and Mary DeGhetto. A lifelong resident of Bound Brook, he graduated from high school in 1981. Deeply connected to nature throughout his life, David found joy in the simple, beautiful things the world had to offer—especially anything outdoors.
A passionate fisherman, David spent countless hours on the waters of the Raritan River, at Lake Tahoe with his best friend Tony Cimino, his wife, Laurie, and their daughter, Alyssa and in Oregon with his family. He was lovingly known to many as the “King of Fishing,” a title he wore with humor and pride. Beyond his own adventures, he gave his time mentoring youth in the art of fishing, always eager to pass on his knowledge and enthusiasm to the next generation. He loved storms and held a lifelong fascination with the unknown—he was known to talk of the mysteries of the wild and enjoyed watching Mountain Monsters and Jaws.
David was predeceased by his father, Mario in 2022. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary; his siblings, Dyan McKaig, and her husband Paul; Steven DeGhetto, and his wife Lois; Susan Strong, and her husband, Robert; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gathering with the family will be 9:00 – 10:00 AM, Friday July 18, 2025, at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Bound Brook.
