Catherine D’Ovidio, 90, peacefully passed away on September 19, 2025. Born on August 21, 1935 in Manhattan, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Katherine (Melillo) Taglialatella. Catherine spent her childhood in East Harlem, N.Y. She moved to Dunellen N.J. during her high school years and graduated from Dunellen High School in 1953.
Catherine married the love of her life, Anthony (Tony) D’Ovidio on June 23, 1956 and together they raised their family in Piscataway. Retirement brought them to Somerset. Catherine spent the last three years of her life residing at the Villas of Holmdel Assisted Living.
Catherine was devoted to her faith and her family. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Piscataway, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Dunellen, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hillsborough (Millstone). She taught religious education and pre-cana classes and was a member of Court Regina Coeli #940 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was active with her children and grandchildren, serving on the PTA and spending many hours assisting with and attending school activities, sporting events, and dance recitals.
After raising her family she worked various secretarial jobs and her final job prior to retiring was a customer service supervisor for Hanover Insurance.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 64 years, Anthony (Tony), she is survived by her six children, Jean (Dan) Mumm, Rachel (Frank) Corradi, Jim (Christine), Robert (Michelle), Thomas (Maryann) and Michael (Sarah), fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom were her pride and joy. Also surviving are her brother, Dom (Sally) Taglialatella, sister-in-laws Tillie Lore, Theresa Penrose, and Carmella Bradley, and many nieces and nephews.
Gathering with family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at St. Joseph Church, 111 East High Street, Bound Brook.
Entombment to follow at Resurrection Burial Park, 899 Lincoln Avenue, Piscataway.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Catherine’s memory to Princeton Child Development Institute (PCDI), 300 Cold Soil Road, Princeton N.J. 08540.
Catherine’s family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to everyone at the Villas of Holmdel for the love, care, and support provided to Catherine over the past three years.
