Anna Diamente, beloved teacher, mentor, and lifelong resident of Franklin Township, passed away peacefully in her home on February 28, 2026, at the age of 87. Her gentle presence, unwavering kindness, and extraordinary dedication to generations of students leaves a legacy that will be felt in this community for decades to come.
Born and raised in Franklin Township alongside her identical twin sister, Frances, Anna discovered her calling early. After graduating from Bound Brook High School, she attended Glassboro State College with her sister, becoming the first in their family to earn college degrees in 1960.
Anna began her teaching career that same year at Middlebush School, where she taught 4th grade for 12 years. She later continued her career at Conerly Road Elementary School and Hillcrest School, touching countless young lives with her patience, warmth, and steadfast belief in every child’s potential. Along with her sister, Anna created a field trip fund to ensure no child was left behind, and championed initiatives like free and reduced lunch programs that made school a more equitable place.
After 50 years of service, Anna retired in 2010, a decision she and Frances made together. Last year, Anna and Frances Diamente were honored with the naming of the children’s wing at the Franklin Township Public Library for their enduring commitment to elementary education and their unwavering devotion to the students of Franklin Township.
Anna was a devoted member of St. Andrews Ukrainian Orthodox Church. She loved playing softball with her students, baking cakes and pies with her mom, and cheering on her beloved New York Yankees.
Anna’s life was defined by compassion, humility, and service. She is the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary (Endyke) Diamente and is survived by her twin sister, Frances Diamente, her cousins Josephine Housell, Jim Housell, Jennifer Kellogg, Karolina Kellogg, Jarrett Kellogg, and many extended family and friends.
